How to Build Your Personal Brand on Social Media (Even If You're Starting From Zero)
By Glecy · June 10, 2024
You don't need thousands of followers to build a personal brand. You need consistency, authenticity, and a clear message. Here's how to start.
I'm going to be real with you — I was not an overnight success on social media. I posted content for months before it started gaining traction. But I kept going, and eventually the audience came. Now brands pay me to create content. And I want the same for you.
Here's what I know about building a personal brand from scratch.
Pick One Platform First
Don't try to be everywhere at once. Pick one platform where your target audience lives and master it first. For most Filipino women and young couples, that's Facebook and TikTok. Pick one, show up consistently, then expand later.
Be Specific About What You Stand For
The biggest mistake people make is being too general. "I post about lifestyle" is not a brand. "I help Cebuana women look stunning on any budget" — that's a brand. Get specific. The more specific you are, the faster the right people will find you.
Consistency Over Perfection
A slightly imperfect post published today beats a perfect post that never goes live. Show up regularly. Your audience needs to see you consistently to start trusting you.
Be Authentically You
People can smell a fake from a mile away, babe. Your quirks, your accent, your sense of humor — that's what makes you memorable. Don't polish away everything that makes you you.
Engage, Don't Just Post
Social media is social. Reply to comments. Ask questions. Go live. The algorithm rewards engagement, and more importantly — real people reward authenticity.
You already have everything you need to start. The only thing missing is action. Post that first video today. 📱
