The Dos and Don'ts of Wearing a Rented Gown

Renting a gown is one of the smartest decisions you can make for a formal event. But I've learned over the years that a little guidance goes a long way in making sure everything goes smoothly for both the renter and the gown. So here are my honest dos and don'ts.

DO: Book Early

I cannot say this enough. The best gowns in the most popular sizes get booked months in advance, especially around Sinulog, Valentine's, and December. Walk-in availability is limited. Reserve early and reserve with confidence.

DO: Try It On Before the Event

Always pick up your gown at least a day or two before your event so you have time for any last-minute adjustments. Do not leave it to the morning of.

DON'T: Eat Heavily While Wearing It

I say this with love — you know who you are. A fitted gown and a full buffet plate are not the best combination. Eat before you put the gown on, or stick to light bites during the event.

DO: Be Careful With Makeup and Hair Products

Foundation, lipstick, and hairspray are the enemies of white and light-colored gowns. Put on your makeup and let it fully set before getting dressed. Use a cloth barrier when pulling the gown over your face.

DON'T: Panic Over Small Accidents

Things happen. If there's a small spill or a minor snag, just let us know when you return it. We handle it — that's part of the service. What we ask is honesty, not perfection.
