I Started Miss G's With Almost Nothing — Here's What I Learned

By Glecy · May 15, 2024

Starting a business from the province with limited capital sounds impossible. But it's not. Here's the honest story of how Miss G's grew from one shop to three.

People always ask me, "Glecy, how did you do it?" And honestly? I didn't have a secret formula. I had grit, a dream, and a very high tolerance for sleepless nights.

I grew up in the province. We didn't have much. But I always had this fire in me — this need to build something of my own. So when I was in my early twenties, I started Miss G's with one small space and a handful of gowns. No fancy business plan. No investors. Just belief.

Lesson 1: Start Before You're Ready

If I had waited until I had "enough" money or "enough" experience, I would still be waiting. You will never feel 100% ready. Start anyway. Start small. Start now.

Lesson 2: Know Your Customer

I knew from day one that my customer was the girl who wanted to look stunning but couldn't afford to buy a gown. She was me. When you build a business for someone you understand deeply, you make better decisions naturally.

Lesson 3: Reinvest Before You Reward Yourself

For the first two years, every peso I made went back into the business. More gowns. Better displays. A second location. It was hard. But that discipline is what made three shops possible.

Lesson 4: Gossip is a Waste of Your Energy

In business — and in life — there will always be people who talk. Competitors, critics, even people close to you. I learned early to ignore it completely. Every minute you spend worrying about what others say is a minute you're not building your dream.

You have something to offer the world, babe. Don't let fear or other people's opinions stop you. Take the risk. Move forward. 🔥
